FINE ART COURSES Primary Art (Section A or B) Students in 1st – 2nd grade will explore the world of visual expression. They will learn to draw, paint, glue, and cut by using the basic art media of crayons, pencils, colored pencils, markers, watercolor, tempera, and acrylic paints. They will also explore some clay, craft, and mixed media projects. Students will study the elements of design, famous artists and art movements, and learn basic art vocabulary. Supply 9x12 sketch pad. Requirements: None Basic Tuition: $130.00
Junior Art (Section A, B or C) Students in 3rd – 5th grade will develop skills in visual art expression. They will learn basic 3-dimensional drawing, color theory and paint mixing skills, and other art skills. Students will continue study in the elements of design, famous artists and art movements, and basic art vocabulary. Students will do projects emphasizing drawing, but also including watercolor, tempera and acrylic painting, clay, craft, and mixed media projects. Requirements: None Basic Tuition: $160.00 Notes: Students will need to supply their own drawing pencils, erasers, and a pad of 9x12 drawing paper.
Middle School Art (Section A, B or C) Students in 6th – 8th grade will develop intermediate skills in the visual arts. They will develop 3-dimensional drawing skills, emphasizing contour, proportion, perspective, and value. Projects will emphasize still life, plant and animal, and portrait work. Students will also learn basic painting and printing skills. Requirements: None Basic Tuition: $180.00 Notes: Students will need to supply their own drawing pencils, kneaded and gum erasers, blending sticks, white and black charcoal pencils, black markers (Ultra fine and/or Fine Sharpies), and a pad of 9x12 drawing paper.
High School Art (Section A, B or C) Students in 9th – 12th grade will develop intermediate skills in the visual arts. They will develop 3-dimensional drawing skills, emphasizing contour, proportion, perspective, and value. Projects will emphasize still life, plant and animal, and portrait work. Students will also learn basic painting and printing skills. Independent study programs can be arranged for advanced students. Requirements: None Basic Tuition: $200.00 Notes: Students will need to supply their own drawing pencils, kneaded and gum erasers, blending sticks, white and black charcoal pencils, black markers (Sharpies, Micron), and a pad of 9x12 drawing paper.
